Military Blue is one of the '89 OG four

Four colorways debuted the AJ4 in 1989 at retail: Bred, Fire Red, White Cement, and Military Blue. The first three retro'd correctly (with Nike Air heel) in the modern era first. Military Blue was the last one to get corrected — waiting 35 years for a proper retro.

2006 retro: Jumpman heel (wrong). 2012 retro: Jumpman heel (still wrong). 2024 retro: Nike Air heel (finally correct). The wait was worth it.

The palette that isn't Bulls

What made Military Blue distinctive in 1989 (and now): it's the OG AJ4 colorway that didn't lean into Bulls red and black. Off-white leather base, neutral grey mudguard, military blue on the wings and eyelets and heel. Industrial blue mesh side panels.

Athlon Sports called it "the template for non-Bulls colorways done right on the 4" — proving you could step away from red and black and still land something iconic.

Also released as "Industrial Blue" in Jordan Brand's Summer 2024 collection — same shoe, different marketing name.

Current pricing reality

StockX has common sizes at $162–433 depending on size. The wide range is because rarer sizes (US 5–6.5 and US 13+) climb significantly, while common men's sizes (US 9–11) sit near retail.
