Every notable Air Jordan 4 collaboration — 2005 to 2026 timeline

Written by the AJReps buying team · Sources: SNKRS listings, StockX transaction history, Sotheby's and Goldin auction records, sneaker collaboration industry reporting.

The Air Jordan 4 has hosted some of the most valuable sneaker collaborations in history. From Undefeated's 72-pair 2005 F&F to Union LA's viral 2020 release to A Ma Maniere's premium boutique run in 2023, AJ4 collabs consistently rank among the most sought-after sneakers ever produced. This post walks through every notable AJ4 collaboration from 2005 to 2026 with current market data.

2005 — Undefeated (the grail that started it all)

The 2005 Undefeated x AJ4 collaboration is arguably the single most valuable Jordan sneaker ever released. Distribution: 72 pairs total, distributed via raffle at Undefeated's Los Angeles Fairfax store. No retail Nike distribution. No wider release.

Colorway: olive-tan nubuck upper with distinctive camouflage strap. Retail: not officially priced (F&F distribution). Current market: Sotheby's has authenticated sales in the $30,000-45,000 range. Goldin auction sold a size 10 for $38,000 in 2024.

The 2005 Undefeated 4 established two important precedents: (1) that AJ4 collabs could reach genuine grail-tier value, and (2) that ultra-limited distribution creates permanent scarcity that maintains value over decades.

2016 — KAWS (the beginning of contemporary AJ4 collabs)

The 2016 KAWS x AJ4 shipped in two versions: a public release at $350 retail (still very limited, aftermarket $2,800-4,200 average) and an F&F release including a KAWS Companion doll (auction $10,000-15,000).

The public release colorway was grey suede upper with KAWS signature branding, glow-in-dark outsole with KAWS pattern, and XX print interior. The F&F version added the Companion doll (which became a collector piece in its own right).

KAWS AJ4 established that non-athletic collaborators (KAWS is a contemporary artist) could produce top-tier AJ4 collabs. This opened the door to the fashion and art-collaborator era that followed.

2020 — Union LA Guava Ice / Off Noir (the pandemic-era phenomenon)

Union LA collaborated with Jordan Brand on two AJ4 colorways in 2020: Guava Ice (peach/cream) and Off Noir (black/grey). Retail $220-225 each. Both sold out immediately at retail. StockX aftermarket peaked $600-800 for common sizes.

Union LA is Chris Gibbs's boutique in Los Angeles, established 1991. The AJ4 collabs came after Union's successful AJ1 collaboration in 2018. Both AJ4 colorways used distinctive materials — nubuck combined with mesh in Union's signature style, contrasting stitching, hidden interior graphics with Union branding.

The Union AJ4s coincided with pandemic-era sneaker market speculation. Aftermarket peaked in early 2021 before settling to current $400-600 average. Rep production of Union collabs is available at G5 tier for buyers who want the collab aesthetic without the resale premium.

2020 — Off-White Sail (Virgil Abloh's AJ4 statement)

Off-White by Virgil Abloh released the AJ4 "Sail" in 2020, retail $200. Sail was one of the last Virgil-designed AJ collabs before his passing in 2021. Distinctive features: red zip-tie tag on laces, hand-sewn quotation marks stitching, translucent icy sole, dual laces (cotton + rope).

Aftermarket: currently $1,200-1,800 for common sizes. Given Virgil Abloh's legacy status, this pair has established permanent premium value. Unlike some pandemic-era hyped drops, Off-White AJ4 hasn't corrected significantly.

Rep production of Off-White AJ4 is complex — the zip-tie tag, the quotation-marks stitching, the specific icy sole compound. Top-tier reps get most details right. The zip-tie tag typography and the correct icy sole opacity are the details most fakes miss. See our Off-White real vs fake guide for authentication details.

2023 — A Ma Maniere Violet Ore (the boutique premium era)

A Ma Maniere is an Atlanta boutique run by James Whitner. Their 2023 AJ4 collaboration (Violet Ore colorway) released at $250 retail. Aftermarket currently averages $340-450. Elevated pricing reflects premium positioning and limited retail distribution.

A Ma Maniere AJ4 used muted violet-brown nubuck with cream accents. The design language emphasized quiet luxury — no loud branding, no obvious collab markers. This positioning has become influential in subsequent boutique collabs.

A second A Ma Maniere AJ4 (Fossil Stone) released in 2024 at similar pricing and similar aftermarket positioning ($340-500). Both pairs are in the top tier of contemporary AJ4 collaborations.

2024 — Nigel Sylvester Brick by Brick (the athlete-collaborator model)

Nigel Sylvester is a professional BMX rider. His 2024 AJ4 collaboration (Brick by Brick colorway) released at $250 retail. Aftermarket currently averages $290-380.

The Brick by Brick colorway is distinguished by hidden 3M reflective panels in the mudguard — invisible in normal light, bright under camera flash. This detail rewards specific photography contexts and has been widely shared on Instagram and TikTok.

Nigel Sylvester represents a new model: athlete-collaborators from adjacent action sports (BMX, skateboarding) creating AJ4 collabs. This is different from the traditional Jordan Brand model of NBA-adjacent collaborations. Expect more collabs from action sports athletes in 2026-2028.

2025 — Air Jordan 4 x Nike SB (Varsity Red)

The 2025 Nike SB collaboration hybridized AJ4 with skateboarding tooling. Different sole compound (softer for grip), additional cushioning, reinforced upper for skateboarding wear patterns. Retail: $140 (lower than standard AJ4 pricing, reflecting SB pricing conventions).

Aftermarket: $200-260 depending on size. Below the Union/A Ma Maniere tier but well above retail. SB collab positioning is distinct — the shoe genuinely functions as a skate shoe, not just an AJ4 in different colorway.

Why AJ4 works as a collab canvas

Every collab-friendly sneaker has a reason. The AJ4's reason:

Rep options for collab AJ4s

Most notable AJ4 collabs are available as reps at $130-160 G5 tier from specialized factory sources. The rep-to-retail-vs-aftermarket math is compelling for buyers who want the aesthetic without the collector investment. See our G5 guide for full details on modern rep sourcing, or Fossil Stone and Brick by Brick for current inventory on those specific collabs.
